James C. Hsiao, PH. D.
Prof. Dr. JAMES HSIAO is a co-founder and Chairman
of the Board of SpaCom International LLC. He is also co-founder and Chairman
of the Board of the Nano Group, Inc. which consists of the Inframat
Corporation and US Nanocorp, Inc., both of which are emerging technology
companies founded to develop and commercialize nanomaterials and
technologies. These companies have been awarded in excess of $20 Mio from US
Government contracted research rather than private equity investments. The
founders were recently featured in the Forbes Magazine (06/2004).
Prior to above
positions, Dr. Hsiao was the founder and former dean of the School of
Business of the Southern Connecticut State University. A trained economist,
Prof. Hsiao was a member of the visiting faculty at the University of
Chicago (1968), the Yale University (1982, 1987) and the University of
Connecticut (1984). He also served as a consultant to a number of prominent
organizations, such as the Rockefeller Foundation, the Future Group, as well
as the United Nations Development Programme.
For more than
two decades Dr. Hsiao has maintained an active involvement in promoting
economic reforms and "open-door" policies in the People's Republic of China,
as well as in fostering the people-to-people relations between the U.S. and
China. He has had face-to-face meetings with world leaders, both from the
U.S. and China, including former Secretaries of State Warren Christopher and
Cyrus Vance, former General Secretary Zhao Ziyang, former Premier Zhu Rongji
and Premier Wen Jiabao of China. He was a panelist at the recent 2004 World
Economic Forum regional meeting in Beijing.
Dr. Hsiao has
received a number of awards and recognitions, including various awards from
the legislature of the State of Connecticut and the Board of Trustees of the
Connecticut State University for his contributions to the State.

Derek Statham, PH. D.
Dr.
DEREK STATHAM is a member of the Board of SpaCom International LLC. He has
over 30 years experience in senior business management positions, and
extensive experience in the start up and management of high technology
companies. He was Director of Ventures at Alcan Aluminum Ltd. in Montreal,
Canada, where he was responsible for the start up of several new companies
involved in electronic materials, ceramics and composites. He was also head
of corporate development for Corning Incorporated, where he was responsible
for numerous Merger & Acquisition activities in materials and life science
businesses. He also served as President and CEO of Biosym Technologies Inc.,
a high tech software company and as Chairman of its successor company,
Molecular Simulations Inc., involved in scientific software and
computational chemistry. He later served as CEO of Oplink Communications
Inc. and subsequently as co-founder and CEO of Arista Networks. He is also
currently a Venture Partner in the NGEN Enabling Technologies Venture
Capital Fund.
Dr. Statham
has B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in materials sciences from Oxford
University, U.K. and an MBA from the Rider University in New Jersey.
